The Moose Family

I have lived in Canada for 27 years after moving here in 1993. I have never seen a bull moose before 3rd October 2020.

Talking with a few people from one of the local Facebook groups was advised to go to Canmore to find Moose. Ventured out early on the 3rd of October and drove to Spray lakes. At first we couldn’t find anything, but found the trail head to Mount Assiniboine and the Helipad for Mount Sharky. On the way back we ran into a Moose family.

The Bull Moose was huge but lying down in the meadow. His wife and daughter were roaming the meadow. Eventually the Cow’s moved too far away from the Bull and he had to get up and follow.

This was a bucket list item for me and my daughter got to witness this first hand.

There was a frost that night and the meadow was covered in ice. The Bull Moose had frost on his back. The temperature at 6am was -4C and didn’t warm up much as the sun rose.
