Annual Three-Lake Tour 2022

We traveled to Banff National Park for this year’s Annual Three-Lake Tour 2022. We decided to spend Canada Day weekend at Moraine Lake. Due to circumstances beyond our control, we arrived late on Moraine Lake Road. For temporary closures of the lake road, you can park in the overflow parking and hop on the park and ride. While we enjoyed Moraine Lake, we didn’t want to spend much time there and did not want to take a lot of photos. So we left Moraine Lake and attempted to get into Lake Louise however this too was full.

Our Annual Three-Lake Tour 2022 was different this year because we could not get to Moraine Lake due to road closures. So we changed up our destinations for this year’s tour of lakes.

Emerald Lake BC

Emerald Lake in British Columbia is a stunning natural wonder that stands out for its emerald-colored water and breathtaking scenery. Located within Yoho National Park located just outside of the towns of Field and Golden, the lake boasts spectacular views, refreshing air, and winter activities such as ice skating. Make sure to take time to enjoy some precious moments on your visit and explore the area’s close proximity to other popular attractions like Takkakaw Falls and Wapta Icefield.

Our next stop was Emerald Lake in British Columbia which was our first lake on the Annual Three-Lake tour 2022, just across the Trans-Canada highway from Field. The parking lot was full when we arrived around 10:30 am, and a line had already formed down the street.

As we walked around the lake, I became distracted by a woodpecker within about 250 meters of the restrooms.

American Three-Toed Woodpecker

Not just any woodpecker, but an American Three-Toe Woodpecker. Almost two years ago, we searched around Fish Creek Park for one of these. Its young were being fed by a woodpecker. Following our walk around the lake, we returned to the truck and drove to Bow Lake.

Bow Lake

Alberta’s scenic Highway 93 is the perfect way to experience Bow Lake like never before. Traveling along this stretch of road will allow you to take in stunning views of mountain ranges and dense forests. As you drive, you may even catch a glimpse of wildlife such as deer, elk, or moose. Make sure to have your camera ready for that postcard-perfect shot before completing your journey and arriving at Bow Lake. The Crowfoot Glacier is shown in this photo. Windy conditions and unsettled water made for poor photography on the lake.

Peyto Lake

Peyto Lake is a stunningly-scenic lake situated in beautiful Alberta, Canada. From incredible mountain views to toe-dipping in the crystal clear waters, you won’t want to miss out on all this gorgeous Canadian paradise has to offer. With this guide, learn what it takes to fully immerse yourself in the splendor of Peyto Lake! We moved on to Peyto Lake from Bow Lake. There were a lot of buses at the lake, and the parking lot was full. Upon arriving at the location, we took a few pictures.

Our next photo is Vermillion Lakes in Banff.

Later in the afternoon, we had a meal in Banff. After visiting the Fudge factory, we stocked up, but the next day it was gone. This was the conclusion of our Annual Three-lake Tour 2022.
