Three Lake Tour – July 2020

On 11th July, Jardene photography, drove to Banff National Park and toured three lakes. The first was Moraine Lake arriving just before 5am, we captured some great shots. The second was Lake Louise which we arrived around 06:30am. We have never seen Lake Louise so calm.

The third we drove past Field, BC and into Emerald Lake. The photo of Emerald lake was disappointing because the sun rose about the mountain and destroyed the shots. Even with an ND filter the shot was too dark with too many shadows. Lesson learnt, Emerald Lake requires a sunset to capture properly.

Below are the three primary images we captured during this 9 hour tour.

The Three Lake Tour from Moraine Lake to Lake Louise and Emerald Lake is one of the most iconic and visually stunning journeys in the Canadian Rockies. Beginning at Moraine Lake, visitors are greeted by vivid turquoise waters framed by the dramatic peaks of the Valley of the Ten Peaks, a scene that feels almost unreal at sunrise. Just a short drive away, Lake Louise offers a different kind of grandeur, with its expansive shoreline, historic château, and glacier-fed brilliance reflecting the surrounding mountains. The tour concludes at Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park, where rich green waters, peaceful walking trails, and towering forests provide a calm and memorable finale to an unforgettable alpine experience.
