Yellowknife Highway Aurora

On 7th September 2022, I was travelling along the Yellowknife highway away from the cloud bank that had engulfed the city. I noticed a lake by the side of the road as I approached Edzo. Taking up the camera equipment; I moved off the highway and into a car park near the lake.

As I approached the lake, I had my headlights on, and there was a loud splash in the water. As I got closer, there were 2 or 3 loud splashes in the water. As I neared the edge of the water, there were about 6 to 8 beavers in the water right where I had stopped.

I set up my tripod and camera and started to compose the shot. I turned off the headlight and started taking pictures of the beavers splashing every so often. I finished quickly and moved back to the vehicle with my headlight on to see about five Coyotes in the distance from the vehicle.

I got back into the vehicle and then pondered to see if there were Coyotes. I did not get out of the vehicle again, but got back onto the highway and travelled back to Yellowknife to find the cloud cover had gone.
